Passenger rights under EU261

Under EU261, passengers may have the right to compensation when a flight arrives at least three hours late, is cancelled at short notice, or causes a missed connection, provided the disruption was within the airline's control.

When are you entitled to compensation?

To qualify for compensation, the disruption must normally have been within the airline's control. Operational issues and technical faults may qualify, while extraordinary circumstances such as severe weather or air traffic restrictions generally do not.
